Welcome to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield Histopathology Training website. This site aims to give you the information that you need to make an informed decision with relation to coming to study with us in Sheffield. The Royal Hallamshire Hospital is home to over 6,000 staff and has over 850 beds for the care of inpatients and a number of specialist outpatient clinics. Standout features of the hospital include a prosthetic eye department and specialist ophthalmology centre. There is also a minor injuries unit which offers services for people that can be treated without the need for emergency care.
With relation to finding us, we are located on the Trust’s Central Campus, about a mile from the vibrant centre of Sheffield. We are on Glossop Road, S10 2JF. There is parking available, for a charge. We are also reachable via the Supertram network, but please be aware that we are about ten minutes walk from the nearest stop, University.
The city of Sheffield has a rich industrial history, and gained an international reputation for steel production during the 19th century. Many changes have been taking place in the city over the past decade or so, including the building of the unique ‘Winter Gardens’ and the redevelopment of the vibrant market in the town centre. The city has an impressive sporting background, playing home to two of the country’s oldest football clubs, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. It is also the birthplace of victorious Olympian Jessica Ennis.
